A Culbreath Christmas: Experiences For Gifts

This was the best Christmas yet! The stockings were hung on the mantle with care, and the table was set for it’s first time ever.

We had been hoping for years that we would finally be settled somewhere (we moved four times in one year). It was taking so long to find a house that our preferences were thrown out the window. We were willing to live almost anywhere, as long as we found something.

Fortunately, in September, we ended up right where we wanted – North Decatur, GA. Not only did we buy seven minutes from my family, we also landed in a pretty cool neighborhood. We could not wait to finally settle so we could deeply invest into our neighbors.

So we bought, moved in, and planned with detail. One of the biggest details was our dining room table. We wanted an inviting table where everyone felt welcome and everyone felt equal. To accomplish that, we planned on a round table.

We actually found one months before, but needed the house to put it in first. Now that the house was here, we welcomed the new table. But not so fast, we could not use it yet. We did not have chairs. They were not in the budget, so we saved. Eventually, we ordered them. And soon afterwards, they arrived.

Back to Christmas. We finally got to use the table. My wife, Quiana, found the cutest decor, mats, plates, bowls and napkins. She and Eden (our daughter) set the table. Our families joined us on Christmas Eve and we will remember it forever – the first Christmas in our new house.

We ate, shared stories, and most of all, remembered what God did for us. We exchanged a few gifts and said our goodbyes. What a night.

The next day, Quiana, Eden and I opened our gifts. What my wife and I loved most was Eden’s reaction to what we gave her.

We have watched her for a little more than seven years and have realized that toys are not her thing. So we gifted her experiences.  She went through the roof with excitement after unraveling tissue paper. On the other side of the wrapping paper was a sticky-notepad (her experience coupon book). She flipped through it and we explained to her what it was. The look on her face was priceless.

She has since not stopped asking to already use a coupon. We love it! What unique gift can you produce for your kid(s)? This is something we like to help our clients out with. Let us know if you would like some guidance.

Later that day, we found out how great of a night Christmas Eve was. Comments of a tearful drive home blessed our hearts. We cannot wait to do it again. Let’s continue to make memorable moments!

Until next time!

It was the best Christmas ever for me. Just to be included, when you feel all alone. Just the Bomb Diggity!
