How I Stay Sober

Though it’s usually sad news, I purposefully receive local news notifications several times a day. Why? — to stay sober to my why (why I do what I do).

I received this text yesterday after reading about a murder. “You’ve already reached those people. You just don’t realize it. I’m sure there are plenty of people who were having dark thoughts, feeling hopeless and your friendship helped to get them on a healthier path. I know that’s true.”

I had just asked, “How can I reach these people?” Sometimes I forget that I am no one’s savior. That’s Jesus’s job. However, it was great to be encouraged, while sharing my heartbreak. Helping one person has the potential to impact billions.

Besides, we are all “these people.” – people that do not have everything together. I do what I do because of my passionate affection for people. And a part of what I do is nudging you to genuinely connect with those around you. INtentional Engagement is the #INgageLife.
